aNEW STAFF MEMBERS FOR 2017-18: We are excited to announce two outstanding professionals that will join the NVCA team starting in August. We welcome Mrs. Alicia Roberts our new STEM Director and teacher and Mrs. Kacey Johnson our new Athletic Director and teacher.

Mrs. Roberts loves teaching science, math, engineering, and design through exploration and hands on curriculum. She comes to us with 20 years of experience in building STEM Labs in both elementary and high school settings. Mrs. Roberts received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Mary’s College and a Master’s of Arts in Instructional Technology from the University of Phoenix. Outside the classroom, she speaks nationally and teaches workshops to promote STEM integration and design into the K-12 curriculum for Grand Canyon University.

Mrs. Johnson has a passion for fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle. She desires to help children grow spiritually, bacademically, physically, emotionally, and mentally. This whole child approach allows her to provide the best program for her students in K-12th. Mrs. Johnson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology of Youth and Adolescents from the University of Northern Colorado and earned a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, as a Program Scholar with distinction from Regis University. She is a member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association in order to continue learning and challenging herself. We are thankful for these two ladies and the leadership they will provide.

CONGRATULATIONS: We are thrilled that our principal Mrs. Oakeson has been selected for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod’s School Leadership Development program. She is one of 20 leaders in the country to take part in this three day school leadership training.

3RD GRADE FIELD TRIP: The 3rd grade students went to the Cerreta Candy Factory in downtown Glendale. The owner Jim Cerrata Sr. himself – greeted the children and told them a joke! What a great experience for the students!

SUMMER PRESCHOOL AT NVCA begins on May 30th! We are waiving the application fee of $50 for current students who enroll by May 1st. Research has consistently shown that students who attend a high quality preschool are more successful in Kindergarten and beyond both academically and socially. NVCA’s preschool program grows skill and knowledge competencies in all areas- Physical well-being and Motor development, Social, Emotional, and Spiritual development. This is done with a strong focus on challenging but appropriate content taught from a biblical worldview.

cCHAPEL OFFERING: The Dollar Challenge for the Phoenix Rescue Mission has increased to $835.00! These students are truly amazing. Thank you for helping support the Phoenix Rescue Mission and St. Mary’s Food Bank this year.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND GOD’S BLESSINGS this week to Ellie Molitor and Andrew Collins.
